AMENDMENTS TO HOUSE BILL NO. 980

AMENDMENT NO. 1

On page 1, in line 2, strike “- Prohibition”; strike beginning with “prohibiting” in line 3 down through “terrapin” in line 8 and substitute “requiring the Department of Natural Resources to prepare a fishery management plan for diamondback terrapin; requiring the Department to adopt regulations governing terrapin resources and the catching of terrapin consistent with certain recommendations of the Maryland Diamondback Terrapin Task Force; and generally relating to terrapin”; in line 11, strike “4-902” and substitute “4-215(b)”; and strike in their entirety lines 14 through 23, inclusive.

AMENDMENT NO. 2

On page 2, strike in their entirety lines 2 through 4, inclusive, and substitute:

“4-215.

(b) The Department shall prepare fishery management plans for the following species:

(1) Striped bass or rockfish;

(2) White perch;

(3) Yellow perch;

(4) American shad;

(5) Hickory shad;

(6) Oysters;

(7) Blue crabs;

(8) Bluefish;

(9) Herring;

(10) Weakfish;

(11) Croaker;

(12) Spot;

(13) Summer flounder;

(14) American eel;

(15) Red drum;

(16) Black drum;

(17) Spotted sea trout;

(18) Horseshoe crabs;

(19) Menhaden;

(20) Tautog;

(21) Black sea bass;

(22) Scup;

(23) Hard shell clams; [and]

(24) Catfish; AND

(25) DIAMONDBACK TERRAPIN”;

in line 6, before “The” insert “(A)”; in the same line, strike “rules and”; in the same line, strike “the” and substitute “:

(1) THE”;

in the same line, strike the bracket; in line 7, strike “ and] conservation of terrapin” and substitute “; AND

(2) TERRAPIN”;

and after line 8, insert:

“(B) THE REGULATIONS ADOPTED UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE CONSISTENT WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE MARYLAND DIAMONDBACK TERRAPIN TASK FORCE ISSUED IN 2001.”.
